Albert and Egje were married on April 7, 1868 by Rev. Egbert Winter, pastor of First Reformed Church in Pella.
The Tysseling family were members of First Reformed in Pella. All of the children were baptized in this Church.
Strangely enough, Egje did not become a member until Nov. 6, 1882.
Over the years they lived on several farms in Black Oak Township. During the 1870’s, Albert and Egje farmed in Section 8, near Pieter Sr. and Gysbert De Jong.
In 1901, they retired and moved to Pella.
Egje was described as a woman of strong Christian character and faith, always true to the teachings of the Bible. She refused to speak the English language. She would only speak Dutch.
Details from the 1870 and 1880 agricultural census are provided below.

The 1870 agricultural census did not ask as many questions about livestock and produce as did the 1880 census. Therefore some 1870 cells are blank. This does not mean they did not have this livestock or produce a particular crop. They simply were not asked to provide this information. For example, farmers were not asked about poultry in 1870.
